Small Business Saturday 2020: More Important Than Ever Before
It's no question, this year has been a doozy. Amidst a pandemic that has forced almost 100,000 small businesses to permanently close their doors, it is more important than ever to shop local whenever possible. This Saturday, November 28th, is Small Business Saturday–-a "holiday" that supports the small businesses that contribute to the local economy and community and help them thrive (or this year, just get by) during the holiday season. So, why should you participate in this decade-long tradition?
Boost the Economy
There are 30.7 million small businesses in the United States, comprising 99.9% of all US businesses, and accounting for 64% of all new jobs created annually. In other words, we need small businesses to boost both the local and federal economy, lower unemployment rates, and provide the goods we are shopping for.
Combat the COVID-19 Crisis
The pandemic has completely shattered what it means to be a small business owner. Many mom & pop stores shops in local downtowns were forced to close their doors overnight, losing a lifetime of hard work.
Foster Local Community
Small businesses are the backbone of your local community. Without them, a town just wouldn't be a town! They allow communities to grow, sponsor town programs like Little League, and donate to local charities and causes.
